DEVON VS DARWIN SPORTS AFTERNOON
Our Devon vs Darwin Sports Afternoon is a regional representative sport day that involves selected 5/6 students from primary schools on the North-West coast. It is a day that encourages participation in different winter sports of football, soccer, hockey and netball. This event will be held on Friday 29th August 2025 from approx 11:30 - 3:00pm (times vary for each sport). This year Darwin (Burnie region) is hosting and the different venues each sport will be held at include:
Football - Wivenhoe Recreation Ground - 11:25am to 2:45pm
Netball - Ulverstone Sports & Leisure Centre - 12:45 to 3:00pm
Soccer - McKenna Park - 12:30 to 2:50pm
Hockey - McKenna Park - 12:45 to 2:55pm
*We are planning on handing out certificates at the end so please stick around so your child doesn’t miss out.
TRANSPORT –
Parents are responsible for getting students to and from the games in the Burnie Region.
SPECTATORS –
Are most welcome. There is no entry fee. Please remember sporting venues are both smoke and pet free areas.
CANCELLATION –
Due to these games being selection games to choose students to represent the North-West region against Launceston the Devon vs Darwin afternoon will go ahead regardless of weather. Be prepared.
GEAR –
Playing tops/ jumpers will be supplied on the day. Players are responsible for their own shorts, socks, shoes/boots, etc. Please bring a change of top as playing tops will be collected at the end of the game. It is important that players have ample warm clothing available.
LAUNCESTON SPORTS EXCHANGE –
From training sessions and the Devon versus Darwin Sports Afternoon games the following teams will be selected to represent the NWPSSA against Launceston teams on Friday 19th September at venues in Launceston. There will be more information available for those who are selected in these teams.
Football - NW Boys Team & NW Girls Team
Soccer - Devon Girls team, Devon Boys team, Darwin Girls team & Darwin Boys team
Hockey - Devon mixed team & Darwin mixed team
Netball - Devon netball team & Darwin netball team
